The Art and Marriage Project called 22+
As a performance piece, female art duo and lovers JF. Pierets are getting married in all 24 countries that currently provide same-sex marriage. Their first wedding in the project will take place in September 2017 in New York and will end in New Zealand in October 2018. Originally married in Belgium in 2012, the pair will visit Canada for their nuptials in March of 2018.
According to their research, “At the current rate we will reach global recognition of same-sex marriage in the year 2142. That’s 125 years from now so let’s see if they can get it to go a bit faster.”
This couple is determined to celebrate the places that have legalized same-sex marriage, and highlights the work that still needs to be done in the 170 countries that don’t. Well done ladies, well done.
