MERMAID-THEMED WEDDINGS

This season couples are taking the nautical-themed wedding further than ever before. They’re heading right under the sea with mermaid themes, a trend that is popping up everywhere. There are lots of great ways to incorporate this theme into the big day. Mermaids can be an elaborate and dramatic motif, so couples should remember to go big or go home.

INVITATIONS
The guests will recognize the theme in an instant if the invites are done accordingly. Couples can use colours to illustrate water and decorate the envelopes with seashells. The inside can be styled like writing in wet sand, announcing the date and other information needed.

VENUE
A place near the ocean is the perfect spot to be married with this theme. Couples don’t have to assume a beach is the best place to have their ceremony. They can have it on a cliff overlooking the sea or a patio with a view of the ocean. Anywhere near crashing waves and sand is a beautiful way to celebrate a marriage in a mermaid-themed ceremony.

DECOR
Focusing on little details is a fun way to create a mermaid-inspired environment at a couple’s reception. Shells can be used in so many ways, from seating cards to wind chimes. Starfish can make an appearance on flatware or inside candle holders. Couples can make their décor memorable by integrating their theme into small features that give character and personality to their wedding.

CAKE
Couples can have the chance to be as creative as they want when it comes to the cake. It can capture the whimsical likes of a mermaid with fins and seashells, or maybe focus on her home with sugar coral and edible pearls in chocolate shells. It can be simple or extravagant, as long as it’s delicious.
