A New Beginning

Weddings are a celebration of love and a new beginnings within your relationship.

As such, as the official Editor of Canada Gay Weddings, we too are embarking on some new beginnings with some great changes, updates and features to help you as you begin planning your special day.

I think my first order of business is to firstly discuss the name and what we aim to achieve.

Canada Gay Weddings is not just for the same-sex wedding couples, but for all those within our diverse community no matter your gender or sexual identity.

As the singer, Pink, said at her “Ally for Equality” acceptance speech:

“I don’t want there to be gay marriage… I want there to be happy marriage, and healthy marriage, and lasting marriage”

She also goes on to say that we are a long way off from there, but the world is changing.

And I agree.

But for now, until such time as the world (and Wedding Industry) achieves a full integration of all people choosing to commit to that one person, regardless of “identification” and orientation, we aim to bring you a place that will provide you with the things you need to get started on your New Beginning as spouses.

A place with people who understand that a”Gay” wedding doesn’t always have to have a “Bride & Groom”, or an over the top celebration with the manifestation of Liza Minnelli.  But rather, let us take the word “Gay” and use it in the context of it’s origional meaning:

Light hearted and carefree, jovial or happy

Which should, in essence, sum up every Wedding.

So as we embark on this new journey, we aim to bring you a Magazine that understands who you, as LGBTQ readers are, and provide you with all the the relevant information you will need as you embark on your journey to the altar, by featuring Themes, Ideas, Vendors and even Real Weddings from couples just like you!

I, for one, am excited to share this journey with you and I hope you have as much fun planning your day as much as we enjoy bringing you all the tools and tricks you will need to do so!
