THE NAKED CAKE TRUTH
The latest trend in the Cake department for Weddings, is the “Naked Cake”. It’s simple and elegant look creates a beautiful simplistic, yet modern and natural feel.
While visually pleasing, there are some important facts to remember.
Namely that while the fondant on a regular cake does prevent it from drying out, by using the right cake mixture and care for your cake, this can be avoided. It’s recommended that if you are making your cake the night before, to cover it lightly with seran wrap o lock in moisture. But if you are doing it way in advance, using seran wrap, it’s best to freeze the cake and NOT keep it in the fridge.
You are probably thinking that the Naked Cake may be a little dull, but here are some ways to spice it up a little…
A great, modern and simplistic look is created on this cake with a uneven and sparse icing, mixed in with a few elegant and romantic flowers. Bring a touch of traditional to this modern look.
Going chocolate is also a nice twist on the traditional vanilla with some dark berry accents.
